Transport measurement of fractional charges in topological models

Abstract The static topological fractional charge (TFC) in condensed matter systems is related to the band topology and thus has potential applications quantum computation. However, experimental measurement of these TFCs electronic quite challenging. We propose an transport scheme which both amount spatial distribution TFC can be extracted from differential conductance through a dot coupled system being measured. For one-dimensional Su–Schrieffer–Heeger (SSH) model, e /2 its verified. As for disorder effect, it shown that Anderson disorder, breaks certain symmetry TFC, significant higher-dimensional while having little effect on SSH chain. Nonetheless, our still work well specific higher-order insulator materials, instance, 2 /3 breathing kagome model could confirmed even presence effect. These conclusions about dimension are universal, also applies other such as classic wave system.
